Touch-screen cell phones

More than just the iPhone

Much of the hoopla surrounding the Apple iPhone has centered on its touch screen. As the iPhone has only one menu button, its touch screen serves as the interface for doing everything from typing text messages to surfing the Web. We admit that we had our reservations, but it turned out to be easier to use than we expected. Yet even with all the attention surrounding it, the iPhone is not the first cell phone to rely so heavily on a touch screen. The LG Prada was one of the first to feature a touch-screen user interface and has a style and elegance that fits its designer branding. Soon after, Samsung followed suit with the Samsung Armani, a touch-screen fashion phone that gives the Prada a run for its money. For a different take on touch screens, we saw the Neonode N2 make its debut this year, a tiny little phone that relies on a series of finger sweeps to navigate its interface. If you still insist on a keypad of some kind, the LG Glimmer combines both a full touch-screen interface as well as a regular number dial pad. Last, but not least, LG wows us yet again with the LG Vu, a phone with a 3-inch-wide touch screen. It's also the first phone to support AT&T Mobile TV, AT&T's new live mobile TV service.

HTC P3350 Touchscreen Phone Launched

High Tech Computer Corporation (HTC) has come out with yet another offering in India. The Indian market clocked the second highest growth in the world after China and ranks 3rd in the number of mobile phones after USA and China.

The HTC P3350 is a touchscreen phone which is pretty slim and compact. The phone has great entertainment features which we shall get into later on. Apart from these it runs on Windows mobile operating system. The phone has data connectivity features like GPRS, EDGE , Bleutooth v2.0 and Wi-Fi.

The HTC India manager Ajay Sharma was confident that the phone will do well in India saying, "“The launch of the HTC P3350 is line with our efforts of offering a device that combines and supports data capabilities along with a platform to provide and support music and entertainment experience for users while on the move. We are positive that this device will be a big hit among music enthusiasts.".

Features to be pinpointed -

- 2.8 inch Display.
- 2.0 Megapixel Camera.
- Office applications

The price of HTC P3350 Touchscreen phone is going to be Rs. 18,490. So being a sub Rs.20,000 is a good thing!

This is a decent handset , but what HTC really needs is a good phone with multi touch technology to get into grove with competiting directly with the big boys like Apple (iPhone), LG (Prada), Nokia (Tube) and ofcourse the new Blacberry Thunder!
